BEST FICTION has reached a milestone. It has been announced that the album will be #1 for this week’s Oricon album chart, making it five consecutive weeks since it first reached the top spot. This feat has not been accomplished by a solo female artist since Akina Nakamori’s 1984 album, Memoire released 25 years ago! The last male artist to accomplish this did so 21 years ago. Both albums were released during the LP age. Overall, the last act to have 5 consecutive weeks at #1 was GLAY almost 11 years ago. BEST FICTION is the first compact disc released by a solo artist to go five consecutive weeks at #1.

BEST FICTION is also the best selling album to be released in 2008 selling 63,000 units this week for a grand total of 1,243,000. For the Oricon year, however, the album moves up a notch to #3 eclipsing EXILE’s EXILE CATCHY BEST.

Namie in Osaka for a-nation this weekend stopped by FM Osaka for a public radio show. She made her appearance at the Umeda Tower Records on the 22nd. She was greeted by 200 fans who were selected from an applicant pool of 3,000. During the “service talk,” she was asked about clothes and she spoke about reading manga including the risque sorts.

Namie’s upcoming tour has been expanded with the addition of 15 dates and an additional city. This brings the tour’s total amount of shows to 40. An expected 400,000 audience members are expected to see the show making it Amuro’s largest tour audience ever.

This week, Namie’s BEST FICTION continues its chart domination coming in at #1 and selling an estimated 153,000 units. The album also officially crosses over the million mark this week (1,092,000 units sold) becoming her 5th album to do so. The album’s success also marks the first time an artist has had a million selling album in three age brackets. Amuro scored her first million selling album at 18 with DANCE TRACKS VOL.1, her fourth at 20 with 181920 and now her fifth with BEST FICTION at 30.
